What is Açaí Berry 3000 mg?
Açaí (Euterpe oleracea) is a palm tree which grows in Amazonia, in northern Brazil. It is known by the natives under the name of içá-çai, which means "the fruit which cries". Its fruit is a crimson bay with concentrations of anthocyanines, powerful antioxydants, higher than those which one finds in red wine. The bays of the acai are also an excellent source of calcium, of iron, B1 vitamins, B2 and B3, vitamins C and E, as well as essential fatty acids. They are also rich in fibres.
For hundreds of years, the bays of acai form part of the traditional food of the natives of Amazonia. The acai also belongs to their folklore, having made his way as well in the legends , the food or traditional medicine.
The Brazilians use it traditionally to treat digestive disorders or skin diseases.
Why take Acai?
  • Antioxydant: The dark crimson color of the fruit is due to the presence of phenolic compounds. Studies show that the skin of bays contains ten to thirty times the content of anthocyanines of red wine. The acai is known to have powerful antioxydant properties. During an in vitro test , anthocyanines and phenols, known as the antioxydant capacity, were extracted from the fruit. The ORAC Value of the acai (an evaluation of the antioxydant capacity) is one of the highest found in fruit extracts.
  • Diabetes: Studies show that the anthocyanines exert a beneficial influence on a whole variety of health problems. One of the reasons of this influence resides in their anti-inflammatory properties which affect collagen and the nervous system. Their capacity to protect at the same time the small ones and the large blood vessels from the oxydative damage derives from a whole of effects including the attenuation of damage on the microtissues caused by high blood sugar levels, persons who have diabetes.
  • Inflammation: During inflammation, enzymes damage conjunctive tissues in the capillaries, causing an infiltration of blood in tissues around. Oxidants are released and other lesions caused on the walls of the blood vessels. The anthocyanines protect from various ways. Initially, they neutralize the enzymes which destroy conjunctive tissue. Then, their antioxydant capacity prevents oxidants from damaging conjunctive tissue. Lastly, they repair proteins damaged in the walls of the blood vessels. Experiments on animals showed that a supplementation in anthocyanines effectively prevented the inflammation and the lesions of the blood vessels which result from this.
  • Nervous system: The anti-inflammatory effects of the anthocyanines help explain their protective effects. The brain is particularly vulnerable to the oxydative damage. It is thought that residues of nitration peroxynitrite of tyrosin in the enzymes and proteins are one of the major causes of cerebral lesions in the neurodegenerative diseases and the traumatisms of the brain. Nitrated tyrosin blocks the sites of the receivers of the nervous growth promoters , thus preventing growth and inhibiting repair. By preventing the nitration of tyrosin, the anthocyanines could help protect from neurological diseases. One even showed that a bilberry supplementation could, in animals, reverse neurological deficits related to age.
  • Cancer: Many scientific data support that there is an association between the consumption of rich fruit and vegetables while composing polyphenolic and reduction in the incidence of certain cancers. An in vitro study, carried out at the University of Florida, examined the effects of bay polyphenols of acai on the antiproliferation and the apoptose of human leukaemic cells. It shows that a bay extract of acai destroys human cancerous cells in culture. More precisely, it indicated that the extract started a response of self-destruction at 86 % of the cells of leukaemia tested.
In addition to its powerful antioxydant capacity, the acai also brings vitamins B1, B2 and B3, vitamins C and E, phosphorus, calcium, potassium, fatty acids essential omega-6 and omega-9, as well as phytosterols and fibres.
Hence , Acai:
  • Is a powerful antioxidant for the organism
  • Combats premature ageing
  • Contributes good health of the heart and digestive system
  • Combat cancerous cells
