Other names: dehydroepiandrosterone (dehydro-ear-androsterone), DHEA sulfate / 99.99% purity.

DHEA, processed by the adrenal glands, is the hormone of the family of steroids most abundant in the blood. The body uses this to produce testosterone, progesterone and estrogen. The natural production of DHEA starts to decline very early. At the age of 40 years, the level of DHEA is more than half the optimal level. At 60-years of age, the body does not manufacture more than 5 to 15% of what it produced at 20 years. Indirectly, the contribution of DHEA also leads to an increase in the level of IGF-1 (a metabolite of growth hormone), which constitutes a plausible explanation of its health benefits. DHEA circulating in the body mainly in its water-soluble form, DHEA sulfate (DHEA-S) that can be easily measured by saliva tests.

Erectile dysfunction: A search with a double-blind placebo to 40 men with erection problems and whose blood tests revealed an abnormally low levels of DHEA has yielded results.

Lupus: The DHEA appears promising for mild cases and means of lupus. During a search that lasted 12 months, double-blind placebo to 381 women, DHEA proved superior in relieving the symptoms, and two other smaller researches are demonstrating the same result. If DHEA happens not to eliminate all symptoms, it can certainly help reduce the taking of medication. It seems that it may also partly counteract the side effects of corticosteroids. In addition, we believe that it is relatively harmless (or, in any case, much less than the drugs normally prescribed for lupus).

Menopause: Three researches suggests that DHEA might slow or even reverse the effects of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. Another research seems to indicate a positive effect on vaginal atrophy, in addition to the osteoporosis.

Effectiveness:

-- Treatment of depression, erectile dysfunction, lupus
-- Palliation to adrenal insufficiency, to vaginal atrophy and loss of bone density in postmenopausal women.
-- Treatment of multiple sclerosis, prevention of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and breast cancer, slowing aging and the progression of Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's.
-- Improving the cognitive functions
-- Significant and rapid improvement in the level of energy and vitality, perceptible after only a few weeks at 82% of women and 67% of men (after a study by the University of San Diego, CA).
-- Stimulation of the immune system that enhances disease resistance. And to stress.
-- Modulation of other hormonal functions, which can help reduce problems associated with andropause.
-- Rehydration improves skin and sebum production (Fats allowing the skin to keep its flexibility and defend themselves against microbial attacks and the general environment).
-- Reduction of pigmentation related to ageing, particularly in the face.
-- Improvement of bone tissue (especially women), relevant for use in prevention of spontaneous bone fractures in the elderly.
-- Increasing the libido (frequency of reports, desire, physical or psychological).
-- A decrease in body fat and increase muscle mass.

DHEA, commonly called the "youth pill" slows down the aging process and positively influences the metabolism:

- improvement of bone tissue
- stimulates the libido, loss of body fat and pigmentation linked to aging
