Omega 3 - 6 - 9

Among poly unsaturated fats, three fatty acids are essential for the correct operation of our metabolism; they are called the Essential Fatty Acids (A.G.E.): Omega-3 (Acid alpha-linoleic fat), Omega-6 (Acid linoleic fat) and Omega 9 (acid oleic).

These three fatty acids are not synthesized by the organism and must be brought by the food or through nutritional supplementation.

These three A.G.E. must be balanced in the organism, because they do not have the same functions.

The principal function of these poly unsaturated fats is to store the energy brought by the nutrients in the organism. The cytoplasmic membrane ("skin of A cell") is made up of two layers of fatty acid which ensure its flexibility. The cells need a balance between stability and flexibility.

The Omega-3 forms part of the family of the essential poly-unsaturated fatty acids that the body cannot manufacture, it must thus be provided by the food: one finds this in fish. It intervenes in a number of vital processes. In particular, it plays a great part in the cardiovascular prevention. It fluxes blood, decreases the risks of heart failure, and makes it possible to lower the rate of the bad cholesterol LDL, while preserving the good HDL.

The Omega-3 stimulates the nervous system, and allows a regeneration of the cells. The body needs some  for its growth and its correct operation. It plays a fundamental part in the development of the brain and the retina, like in the formation and the mobility of the spermatozoa, the regulation of the hormonal system and anti-inflammatory drug.

The Omega-3 intervenes in many biochemical processes of the organism and cellular membranes: regulation of blood pressure, the elasticity of the vessels, immune reactions, anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory drugs. It decreases the aggregation of the blood plates, therefore reduces the formation risk of clots, which thus reduces the risk of thrombosis and heart disease. Its absorption occurs using several enzymes, a cascade of chemical reactions allowing the body to manufacture the paramount substances for its correct operation.

In theory, women should consume 1,6 grams of Omega-3 per day, and men 2 grams per day. We are far from this, with less than 0,5 to 1 gram per day! In a recent report/ratio, the British Agency of Medical Safety recommends to increase our contributions in Omega-3.

The Omega-6 has a function to coagulate blood, and does this so that the soft muscular fabrics contract easily. It is useful to fight asthma, it protects arteries and the heart. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory drug which stimulates the immune system.
